Te Ngaere Bay is a small, attractive bay in the Far North of the Northland Region, facing the Pacific Ocean and known for its clear water and rocky headlands. Thanks to its northern location, sea temperatures here are relatively mild compared with many other parts of New Zealand. In summer, from December to February, water temperatures generally range between 19°C and 22°C, which feels comfortable for swimming on warm days. During autumn, the sea often remains around 18–20°C before gradually cooling. Winter temperatures typically drop to between 14°C and 16°C, while spring sees a steady increase from roughly 15°C towards 18°C as the days grow longer and more settled.
