Elliot Bay is a remote and scenic bay in the Far North of the Northland Region, opening onto the Pacific Ocean. Surrounded by rolling hills and native bush, the bay has a natural, undeveloped character. Sea temperatures here reflect the relatively warm conditions of the upper North Island. In summer, from December through February, water temperatures generally range between 19°C and 22°C, which feels comfortable for swimming during settled weather. Autumn often remains pleasant at around 18–20°C before gradually cooling. Winter temperatures typically fall to between 14°C and 16°C, while spring sees a steady rise from roughly 15°C towards 18°C as air temperatures increase and calmer conditions return.
