Aramoana in Hawke’s Bay is a small, quiet coastal spot facing the open Pacific Ocean, with a natural, largely undeveloped shoreline. Sea temperatures here reflect the typical east coast pattern of the North Island. In winter, from June to August, the water generally sits between 13–15°C, which feels distinctly cold and is usually suited to surfers or swimmers wearing wetsuits. As spring progresses, temperatures rise gradually to around 15–17°C. Summer, from December through March, brings the most comfortable conditions, with sea temperatures commonly ranging from 19–22°C during settled, sunny spells. Early autumn can still be pleasant, with the ocean holding at 18–20°C before cooling again as winter approaches.
