Mahurangi West is a quiet coastal area north of central Auckland, overlooking the Mahurangi Harbour and the Hauraki Gulf within the Pacific Ocean. The coastline here is more sheltered than fully exposed ocean beaches, which helps keep conditions relatively calm for much of the year. In summer, particularly from January through March, water temperatures generally range between 19 and 22°C.
