Colteri Beach is a remote stretch of coastline in the Far North of the Northland Region, opening directly onto the Pacific Ocean. Like many beaches in this part of New Zealand, it benefits from relatively mild sea temperatures compared with central and southern regions. During summer, from December to February, water temperatures typically range between 19°C and 22°C, offering comfortable conditions for swimming on warm days. In autumn, the sea often remains pleasant at around 18–20°C before gradually cooling. Winter temperatures usually fall to between 14°C and 16°C, while spring sees a steady increase from roughly 15°C up towards 18°C as the weather becomes more settled.
