Lake Whakamaru is one of the larger hydro lakes on the Waikato River, set in the central Waikato with a long, open shoreline and broad stretches of water. Swimming Conditions
Swimming in Lake Whakamaru is allowed and commonly enjoyed during the summer months, thanks to the lake’s relatively still water compared with free-flowing river sections.
