Lake Pupuke, in Auckland’s North Shore, is a volcanic crater lake surrounded by urban parks and residential areas. Despite its city setting, it is a relatively deep freshwater lake, and its water temperature follows seasonal air conditions typical of the upper North Island. In winter, surface temperatures are generally around 12–16°C. During spring, the lake gradually warms to approximately 16–20°C.
