Lake Tikitapu, also known as the Blue Lake, in the Bay of Plenty Region near Rotorua, is a popular freshwater lake surrounded by forest and recreational reserves. Its water temperature reflects the warm inland North Island climate and moderate depth. In winter, surface temperatures are generally around 10–14°C. During spring, the lake gradually warms to approximately 14–18°C as air temperatures increase.
