Kiritehere Beach is a remote and rugged stretch of coastline in the western Waikato Region, facing the Tasman Sea. The beach is largely undeveloped, with dark sand and regular ocean swells typical of New Zealand’s west coast. In summer, particularly from January through March, water temperatures generally range between 18 and 21°C. Most locals find this swimmable on warm days, although the exposed setting and frequent breeze can make the water feel cooler. During autumn, temperatures ease back to around 16 to 19°C. Winter brings cooler conditions, typically between 13 and 15°C, while spring sees a gradual rise from roughly 14 up to 17°C as the season progresses.
